Social Events

The social events for the  year are now being planned with thanks to Mike Taylor our Social Chairman.

As soon as those plans are agreed, details will be shown below.

All planned events that we have a date for will be shown here, so you can get them in the diary!

Where there is a poster or a booking form, this will be shown and a simple click on the picture will open the document where you can download and print it.

Enjoy the year!

Trip to Tolpuddle and the Martyr’s museum

Meet for lunch at the Martyrs Inn at 12 noon.  Menus etc. can be found on their website here. The prices are very reasonable and the ambience is comfortable. The food is very good and the staff are extremely friendly and helpful.

We have arranged to be at the museum for 2 pm where the manager Tom will give us a talk. The museum is only one room with a lot of reading material and for many it will change their preconceptions of the Tolpuddle Martyrs’ story.

Apart from the museum there is James Hammett's grave in the churchyard., the old chapel where they would most certainly have met up on a regular basis, the new Methodist chapel where James Hammett was a preacher, and the village green where they held their meetings.

The prices in the pub are very reasonable and there is no charge for the museum, but as we are getting a talk, a small donation would probably be appropriate.

Parking is on the road and is plentiful.

Replies to Mike Taylor by Saturday 5th October so thathe can let the pub landlord know the numbers.
